National Health Insurance

If a foreigner lives in Japan for more than 1 year, they will need to join the National Health Insurance program.
Paperwork must be submitted within 14 days of the start of residency in Japan. If you join the National Health Insurance program, you will only need to pay for 30% of the cost of treatment (excluding treatments that are not covered by insurance). Regarding insurance premiums, there is a reduction or exemption system for international students and it cost a small amount every month.
